Police Identify Alleged Gunman In DIMEBAG DARRELL's Murder - Dec. 9, 2004

Police released the name of the gunman who allegedly went on a shooting rampage at a Columbus nightclub Wednesday night, killing four people — including DAMAGAEPLAN guitarist Dimebag Darrel — before a police officer shot him dead.

Nathan Gale, 25, of Marysville, reportedly jumped onto a concert stage and opened fire, NBC 4 reported.

The shooting took place shortly after 10 p.m. at Alrosa Villa, located at 5055 Sinclair Rd.

A crowd of about 250 people was inside for a concert by DAMAGEPLAN, a heavy metal band. Two former members of the band PANTERA formed the group.

The band took the stage shortly after 10 p.m., and minutes later, a man, who was wearing a hockey jersey and hooded sweatshirt, began firing at point-blank range at least four times at guitarist Dimebag Darrell, NBC 4's Kyle Anderson reported.

Darrell Abbott, who was known as "Dimebag Darrell", was pronounced dead at the scene, NBC 4's Kyle Anderson reported. Police released the names of two others who died. They were Nathan Bray and Erin Halk, both audience members.

"(The gunman) came on stage, from the back, like he knew what he was doing and went straight to Dimebag Darrell immediately," an unidentified witness said.

"Gale reportedly shot and killed another member of the band before firing shots into the crowd.

Columbus police were flooded with 911 calls from concertgoers right after the shooting. Some witnesses said Gale took a person hostage. Minutes later, a Columbus police Officer James D. Niggemeyer entered the nightclub and shot and killed Gale, police said.

Police did not identify the other person who died at the scene.

Authorities spent hours questioning audience members.

As calls for help came in, dozens of police and EMS crews were dispatched to the scene.

Emergency room workers at Riverside Methodist Hospital were told to watch out for people who would ask for care on Thursday. Police said that about 100 people left the Alrosa Villa before officers got the scene under control.

Two people who were shot were transported by ambulance to Riverside. Their names were not released and hospital officials would not comment about their conditions.

DAMAGEPLAN Shooting Update: VINNIE PAUL Uninjured; Metal Musicians Mourn DIMEBAG's Passing - Dec. 9, 2004

Scoop of the Columbus, Ohio radio station The Blitz 99.7 FM has confirmed to BLABBERMOUTH.NET that DAMAGEPLAN drummer Vinnie Paul was uninjured in the shooting incident at a Columbus nightclub which resulted in the death of Paul's brother, Dimebag Darrell. According to Scoop, who attended the concert and briefly saw Vinnie following the incident, Paul was in a complete state of shock and expressed his desire to be with his brother right after the shooting occurred.

A friend of Scoop's, Kevin Minerd, who also attended the concert, told BLABBERMOUTH.NET that the gunman entered the stage from the left side and walked over to the right side where Dimebag was standing before grabbing the guitarist and pumping several bullets into him. Additional shots were fired, although it's presently unclear which other member of DAMAGEPLAN, if any, was killed in the incident.

"A Columbus police officer, when he arrived, engaged the shooter, and the shooter is also dead, and if the officer hadn't acted when he did and how he did, we'd probably be looking at more dead, because this guy was actively shooting," Sergeant Brent Mull, public information officer, told MTV News.

"We have 200-plus patrons that we have sequestered inside three city buses," Sergeant Mull explained. "We are interviewing them one by one. The ones that were inside and witnessed this, ran for their lives and were in fear for their lives. They are victims too, and we want to take care of them."

As news of Dimebag's (born Darrell Lance Abbott in Dallas, Texas on August 20, 1966) bizarre and tragic demise rippled through the metal community, the news was met with shock and sadness.

"I'm speechless," friend and ROB ZOMBIE/OZZY OSBOURNE bassist Rob "Blasko" Nicholson told MTV. "This is totally unreal. Dimebag is a fucking legend and this is total bullshit."

"This is insane and this is beyond travesty," KILLSWITCH ENGAGE frontman, and former DAMAGEPLAN tour partner, Howard Jones said. "This is beyond anything I've ever heard. This shouldn't happen in or outside of the rock and metal community. He will be missed and mourned as a person, as a musician, and as a friend."

ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian, whose band has toured with PANTERA and has featured Dimebag guest appearances on their albums, stated in a posting on ANTHRAX's web site, "I am devastated as I'm sure we all are. All I can convey at this moment are my condolences to Rita and Vinnie and the whole family. My heart is with you."

MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx offered the following: "Dime, I will never forget all the times you made us laugh. I'm so happy we got to spend the day together in London recently… We should all live our lives as full as you have. I will miss you, as will all of us... This is a sad day."

Rich Ward (FOZZY, STUCK MOJO): "Darrell was as nice as they come. During the times that I spent with him, I wondered why he played in such a heavy band. Not that he didn't have the ability to school all of us that dared to share a stage with him, but because he seemed like such a gentle and kind man. He had a great sense of humor and was someone that everyone in the room gravitated toward. He never carried himself like the big rock star that he really was, instead he came across humble and appreciative. I consider it a privilege to have known him, as he was one of the 'real' guys in the business and as Zakk [Wylde] would say, 'one of the boys'!"

Shaun Glass (SOIL): "Today I am saddened to say I lost my friend and hero it sickens me that someone would take away a person that brought so much joy to so many people. Love ya, Double D."

Gunman Sought Out DIMEBAG, Shot Him Five Or Six Times At Close Range - Dec. 9, 2004

Cincinnati's WCPO-TV has issued the following update on the shooting that occurred at the DAMAGEPLAN concert in Columbus, Ohio:

A man opened fire in a crowded nightclub during a rock concert Wednesday night, killing at least four people and wounding at least two others before he was shot to death by police, authorities said.

A man walked on stage during the show at the Alrosa Villa and opened fire on band members, killing four people and wounding at least two others, said Columbus police spokesman Sgt. Brent Mull, adding that more people could have been shot and left the scene before authorities arrived.

Mull said a police officer shot and killed the gunman. It wasn't immediately clear whether the officer was already at the show or had responded to an emergency call.

Columbus resident Chris Couch, 22, said the shooting occurred about 30 seconds after the show's headliner, DAMAGEPLAN, had begun playing.

Couch, who was standing about 30 feet away from the stage, noticed a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt and hockey jersey walk up to the stage, followed by a bouncer and another club employee.

The man in the jersey climbed onto the stage, started yelling and shot the guitarist five or six times at close range, Couch said.

Couch said the gunman also shot a bouncer who pulled him off the musician.

At that point, Couch and a friend headed for the exit along with a tide of hundreds of fans.

It appeared the gunman purposely sought out the guitarist, whom Couch identified as a performer who went by the name "Dimebag Darrell."

Authorities didn't immediately provide the identities of the victims.

"It was definitely a grudge. It was against something," Couch said.

Amanda Stankus, 19, who attended the show with Couch, said she initially thought the shooting was part of the show.

"I just saw the guitarist fall down, and we decided to get out of there," said Stankus, of Columbus.

Stankus said she didn't see any metal detectors or uniformed police officers at the venue and that she wasn't searched or frisked on her way in.

At least five people died and two others were wounded after a shooting at a Columbus, Ohio nightclub on Wednesday night.

Two members of the heavy metal band DAMAGEPLAN were reportedly shot and killed, including Dimebag Darrell, formerly with the band PANTERA, WCMH reported. The other bandmember's name was not released, but it . The alleged gunman also died at the scene, according to police.

Shortly after the band began playing its first song, a man reportedly ran onto the stage and began shooting, according to a witness who identified himself as Sean. Some members of the audience reportedly thought the man running onto the stage with a gun was part of the band's act, the television station reported.

Witnesses said that several shots were fired at the band. Witnesses said that a bouncer at the club tackled the alleged gunman before that person was shot and killed. It was unclear as to who shot the alleged gunman.

Alrosa Villa is a popular north Columbus nightspot for young adults, featuring rock and heavy metal bands, WCMH reported.

According to the band's Web site, DAMAGEPLAN was touring nationally. It performed in Buffalo, N.Y., on Tuesday night and had a concert scheduled in Flint, Mich., on Thursday.DAMAGEPLAN featured former PANTERA artists Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul. The pair were joined by vocalist Patrick Lachman and bassist Bobzilla, according to their web site.

Os centros de inspecções de categoria B vão começar a sua actividade em breve. Terão capacidade para detectar alterações ilegais.

A partir do próximo mês vão ser inaugurados vários centros de inspecções de categoria B, estes estarão equipados com máquinas que podem detectar a potência dos motores dos automóveis, tendo por isso a capacidade de descobrir transformações ilegais.Até Fevereiro deverão estar a funcionar 50 destes centros, pelo que faseadamente vão poder responder à última exigência da Direcção-Geral de Viação: a indicação da potência dos motores no livrete. Esta medida entrará em vigor a partir de Janeiro.Os centros de inspecções de categoria B destinam-se a testar viaturas consideradas suspeitas pelas forças policiais ou DGV, veículos acidentados e viaturas importadas que aguardem atribuição de matrícula.

Sistema Inteligente de Visão Nocturna da Honda

A Honda Motor Co., Ltd. anunciou o desenvolvimento do primeiro Sistema Inteligente de Visão Nocturna, que utiliza câmaras"de infravermelhos de longo alcance" para detectar peões na trajectória do veículo ou que dela se aproximem, alertando o condutor através de indicações visuais e sonoras para ajudar a evitar acidentes com peões. Este novo sistema vai estar disponível no Honda Legend com lançamento agendado no Japão para o Outono de 2004.

O Sistema Inteligente de Visão Nocturna utiliza imagens captadas por duas câmara de infravermelhos de longo alcance, posicionadas na secção inferior do pára-choques dianteiro, para detectar a posição e o movimento de objectos emissores de calor por meio de raios infravermelhos e determinar se estão na trajectória do veículo ou a aproximar-se dela. Com base no tamanho e forma, o sistema também determina se o objecto detectado é um peão. Para além da função convencional de visão nocturna dar ao condutor uma melhor visão da estrada, este sistema é o primeiro a alertar o condutor para a presença de peões que estejam na estrada ou prestes a cruzar a trajectória do veículo.

A morte de peões constitui aproximadamente 30% de todas as mortes por acidentes de trânsito no Japão*. Como parte do seu esforço para atingir uma melhor compreensão da cinemática relativa aos acidentes com peões e para desenvolver tecnologias que os protejam, a Honda desenvolveu o primeiro manequim peão, o POLAR I em 1988. Depois, seguiu-se o POLAR II em 2000, que possui uma estrutura ainda mais semelhante a um ser humano, para além de mais pontos de medição. A Honda dá toda a prioridade ao desenvolvimento de novas tecnologias para a segurança dos peões. - Unidade electrónica detectora de peões
A Unidade electrónica determina a posição do peões e o movimento com base na imagem das câmaras, juntamente com a velocidade e outras informações do veículo. O sistema detecta os peões dentro da trajectória do veículo ou que dela se aproximem e alerta o condutor através de uma estrutura visual destacada à volta da imagem do peão e de um avisador sonoro.

A BMW acaba de revelar os primeiros detalhes a nível oficial acerca da tão aguardada nova geração do Série 3 da marca Alemã o qual será lançado nos diversos mercados Europeus na Primavera de 2005.

Com linhas inspiradas no bem sucedido Série 5, o que significa desde logo uma estética ao gosto de Bangle (Responsável pelas últimas criações da BMW), a nova geração demarca-se pelo seu estilo ainda mais agressivo e dinâmico.

A nova série 3 promete uma acrescida dinâmica de condução quando comparado com o seu antecessor, para isso os motores sofreram substanciais incrementos de potência sem prejudicar os consumos. É já em Janeiro de 2005 que vai ser revelada a última versão do Corvette Z06, no Salão Automóvel de Detroit.Linhas mais marcadas e agressivas, com uma aerodinâmica reforçada e também com umas entradas de ar de maiores dimensões, que contribuirão para garantir a circulação do ar, são algumas das características exteriores mais marcantes do desportivo. Em alguns dos exemplares do Z06 avistados em testes (ainda que camuflados), vislumbrou-se uma parte traseira ligeiramente diferente, com novas ópticas, possivelmente LEDs.Quanto à motorização do novo modelo, especula-se que seja utilizada uma versão do motor do C5R (um veículo de competição), o 7.0 de 900 cv. No entanto, a potência da versão de produção do Z06 deverá situar-se ao nível dos 500 cv de potência.

O ex-baixista dos Nirvana, Krist Novoselic, vai embarcar numa digressão pelos Estados Unidos que promove o seu mais recente livro, "Of Grunge And Government, Let's Fix This Broken Democracy".
De acordo com a Amazon, trata-se de um livro de memórias com uma base política, que conta a história do percurso musical e político do músico. Bom Dia!!!

Acabei de chegar agora do bules/borga!!Cada vez mais me torno num noctívago....só vivo à noite, e tenho de admitir gosto bastante.Mas ficava mais contente se dia 16 me trouxesse a noticia que esta fase iria acabar, há coisas mais importantes, mas se a noticia for negativa, então também vou continuar a bulir à noite, gosto mesmo de tar no bar!Obvio que tem as suas partes más, mas acaba por compensar em certos pontos.
Vou dormir, que mais logo é para bulir outra vez!BOM DIA para todos!!!!!

Life is good sometimes

Antes de ir bulir, e mesmo estado atrasado como tudo, apeteceu-me vir aqui (até porque não o faço à já algum tempo) e dizer que a vida as veze´s consegue parecer quase completa, e até muito alegre.
Já não me sentia assim à algum tempo...

Desilusão e surpresa...

Nunca ficaram desiludidos com alguém?Claro a resposta é obvia, todos nós já tivemos os nossos momentos desuliditórios.O meu provêm de alguém que não estava à espera, mais propriamente no trabalho, mas não interessa, as coisas lá se esclareceram, se calhar eu é que sou demasiado ingénuo, não sei!Mas no balanço total estou a gostar muito de trabalhar à noite, apesar de ser uma casa com muito, mas mesmo muito pessoal xungoso, no que a clientes diz respeito.Mas para dar uma noticia, hoje fui convidado para ir trabalhar no Hawai, nas Docas!!!!Surpreendente não é??Pois senti o mesmo, mas não dei resposta, disse que tinha de pensar que não podia responder assim à toa, e que viessem falar comigo noutro dia com mais calma!Aliás disse até que achava que não tinha andamento para o Hawai, sendo que me perguntaram porquê, ao que não respondi!!Se não conseguir entrar na universidade este ano sou bem capaz de aceitar, mais não seja porque melhorava em termos de clientes, ambiente, e também por curiosidade, gostava de saber se tenho mesmo jeito, se era capaz de me aguentar num sitio bem mais "puxado".Se bem que ganhei um certo afecto pelo "staff" do Abaco's.
Bem como acabei agora de chegar do bules vou mas é dormir senão logo à noite não me aguento.Mas senti-me com vontade de vir aqui dizer alguma coisa, visto que ultimamente tenho andado desaparecido!!
